#WatchOutForTheRobots – Musical Swarm of Flying Robots Play the James Bond Theme Song

People talk with their bodies – studies show that non verbal cues account for at least half of all interpersonal communication. Some experts put that figure at 70% and even 90%. Facial expressions, posture, and physicality can deliver signs that either reinforce or undermine the verbal work going on.

Most people aren’t kept up at night for fear of a robot apocalypse – but, in our economically unstable society, many people do worry about their future employment. Robots and AI aren’t yet dominating our lives but they are taking our jobs.

1 - Sucking Robot Arm Wins Amazon Picking Challenge

A Dutch robotics team was awarded the top prize in Amazon's most recent warehouse bot competition in Germany. Team Delft's bot excelled in two tasks: selecting and picking products from a container and putting them on a shelf, and performing those actions in reverse. Teams were given a computer file, five minutes before the start of the competition, that detailed the range of objects involved and instructions for moving each. Once the task began, the robots acted autonomously .The competition is held to with the ultimate goal of furthering collaboration between humans and robots in Amazon's warehouses. At present, robots move items around the building, but humans are still relied upon to stock shelves.

WIRED's "Danger Room" is aptly named.

"Watch out for the robots" is just a phrase we use whenever we see a crazy technology that clearly has the potential to be pretty darn scary if it ever were to go awry. No, no, this isn't because we have a pessimistic view of the future (though phronesis in all technological developments / applications is important), we just love finding/sharing this stuff. :)
